What this Policy covers

Weather Rabbit uses location information, weather data, and artificial intelligence to provide forecasts and related experiences through selectable AI-driven personalities. This Policy explains how StoryRabbit Incorporated collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you use the Weather Rabbit mobile application and related services.

Weather Rabbit is offered only in the United States and is not intended for anyone under 18. Separate Terms of Use and in-product notices describe the limitations of AI-generated weather content and other terms governing use of the Services.

1. Who We Are and Scope of This Policy

StoryRabbit Incorporated ("StoryRabbit," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Weather Rabbit mobile application and related services (the "Services"). StoryRabbit is responsible for the personal information described in this Policy. Treefort Media LLC and other affiliates may provide production, operational, and administrative support.

This Policy applies to information collected through the Services and communications with us. It does not govern the independent privacy practices of Apple, Google, app stores, authentication providers, payment processors, weather-data providers, or other third-party services that operate under their own privacy notices.

2. Notice at Collection

The table below summarizes the categories of personal information we collect, the principal purposes for collection and use, the criteria used to determine retention, and whether we sell or share the information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Additional detail appears throughout this Policy.

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We do work with advertising, analytics, and measurement partners that collect device identifiers, IP address, general location, and App activity through the Services. Under the CCPA and other U.S. state privacy laws, that activity may be considered a sale of personal information, or a sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. You may opt out at any time as described in Section 12. We do not sell or share precise GPS coordinates, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Account and sign-in information

You must use Apple or Google authentication to create or access an account. Depending on the choices you make with the authentication provider, we may receive your name, email address, a provider-issued account identifier, and authentication tokens or account-status information. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.

3.2 Location and saved places

If you grant device permission, we collect precise or approximate GPS location while you use location-based features. You may instead search for another location manually. You may also save locations to your account. A manually entered or saved location may reveal a precise place even when GPS access is disabled.

The current Services do not require background location collection. We collect location in the background only if a feature clearly requires it, you choose that feature, and you separately grant the applicable device permission. You may change location permissions in your device settings.

We do not sell or share precise location information, provide precise GPS coordinates to advertising partners, or use precise location for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. General location derived from your IP address, or a city or regional area, may be used for advertising as described in Section 7.

3.3 Purchases and subscriptions

When paid features are available, purchases and subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or another authorized payment provider. We receive information such as the product purchased, transaction identifier, subscription status, renewal status, and limited purchase or billing metadata. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers.

3.4 Preferences, device information and usage

We collect the personality you select, saved locations, units, notification choices, and other settings. We also collect information about the device and App, including device type, operating system, language, IP address, App version, session information, features used, forecast, playback information, crash reports, and diagnostic logs.

We may receive a mobile advertising identifier or similar identifier when made available by your device settings and permitted by applicable law and platform rules. We and our advertising partners use such identifiers for advertising selection and delivery, frequency management, measurement and attribution, security, and fraud prevention. This may include advertising selected using information about your activity across other apps and websites. You may opt out as described in Section 12.

3.5 Notifications and communications

If you enable push notifications or weather alerts, we collect a device token and your notification preferences and use location information as needed to send the alert you requested. You can disable notifications in the App or in your device settings.

If you contact us, we collect the information in your message and any information reasonably necessary to respond. We may also collect information needed to verify and process a privacy request.

3.6 Information from other sources

We receive information from authentication providers, app stores, payment processors, weather and mapping providers, analytics and diagnostics providers, advertising providers, security and fraud-prevention providers, and other service providers. The information received depends on the service and your settings.

3.7 Weather observations and other submissions

You may have the opportunity to submit weather observations, photographs, videos, comments, and other content to the Services. When you submit this information it becomes the property of StoryRabbit, and you accept responsibility for its accuracy, appropriateness, and legality. Submissions may be distributed and become publicly available, and may be viewed, collected, or used by others outside of our control, including any geolocation, tags, or other metadata contained in the submission.

To the extent the transfer described above is ineffective for any reason, you grant StoryRabbit a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, distribute, publicly perform, and display the submission and to create derivative works from it.

Additional terms governing submissions, including content standards and removal, appear in our Terms of Use.

4. How We Use Personal Information

We may use aggregated or de-identified information for research, analytics, service improvement, and business purposes. When we maintain information as de-identified data, we maintain and use it in de-identified form and do not attempt to re-identify it except as permitted by law to test or validate de-identification methods.

We do not collect, use, or sell personal information for the purpose of training large language models.

5. Location-Based Forecasts and Alerts

Location is used to identify the forecast area, obtain weather data, generate local content, and send alerts you enable. When possible, we limit the location information provided to a recipient to what is reasonably necessary for that recipient to perform its function. Weather and mapping providers may receive coordinates or a location query so they can return information for the requested place.

Turning off GPS permission does not prevent you from using manual location search. Saved locations remain associated with your account until you remove them or delete the account, subject to the retention exceptions in Section 9.

6. AI-Generated Personalities and Content

Weather Rabbit uses artificial intelligence and text-to-speech or generative-audio technology to create forecasts and related content in selectable personalities. To generate a response, AI and speech providers may process weather data, the requested location or a generalized location, the selected personality, and limited technical request information.

Certain personalities may incorporate a licensed name, likeness, or synthetic voice associated with an identifiable individual. The words and audio presented by the Services are generated for the requested experience and are not a recording or personal communication from that individual. We do not identify the individual in this Privacy Policy.

When an AI provider processes personal information on our behalf, we use contractual and technical controls intended to limit that processing to providing and supporting services for us. We do not use AI to make decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects, such as decisions about employment, credit, housing, insurance, education, or access to essential services.

7. Analytics and Advertising

We use analytics, diagnostics, attribution, and advertising technologies to understand how the Services perform, improve features, prevent fraud, deliver ads, and measure results. These technologies may process device information, IP address, general location, App activity, advertising identifiers when available, ad interactions, and diagnostic information.

An ad may be selected based on the screen or content you are viewing, the forecast area at a city or regional level, language, device type, or other immediate context. Ads may also be selected using information about your activity across other apps and websites that our advertising partners collect or hold. We do not authorize advertising partners to use precise GPS coordinates for advertising. You may opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and of targeted advertising, as described in Section 12.

Where applicable law or platform rules require permission for a technology, we request permission before using it. You can manage device-level tracking and advertising choices through your Apple or Android settings. Limiting an advertising identifier or tracking permission does not remove advertising. You will continue to see ads, selected using less information about you.

8. How We Disclose Personal Information

We disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to the following categories of recipients:

We use contracts and other controls intended to impose privacy, security, confidentiality, and use restrictions appropriate to a recipient's role. Some recipients, such as app stores or authentication providers, may independently determine how they process information and are governed by their own privacy notices.

A current list of the vendors and third parties that receive information through the Services and to whom we have sold or may sell your personal information, and of the meteorological sources that supply our weather data, is available at weatherrabbit.app/vendors. We update it from time to time.

9. How Long We Retain Information

We retain each category of personal information according to the criteria below. Actual periods may vary when necessary to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, protect security, enforce agreements, complete deletion, or preserve information subject to a legal hold. Information in backups may remain until the applicable backup is overwritten or securely retired.

10. Your Choices and Controls

Location. You can allow precise or approximate location, deny permission, or change permission in device settings. You can use manual location search without GPS permission.

Saved locations. You can add or remove saved locations through the available account or location controls.

Notifications. You can enable or disable push notifications and alerts in the App or through device settings.

Advertising. You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information control in the App privacy settings, or by emailing privacy@storyrabbit.co. You can also limit or reset advertising identifiers and manage tracking permissions through device settings. Ads will still appear after you opt out, selected using less information about you.

Account information. You may update available account details through the App or the relevant Apple or Google account settings.

Account deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by contacting us using Section 18. Some information may be retained as permitted or required by law.

11. Security and Security-Incident Notices

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, taking into account the nature of the information and the Services. No method of transmission, storage, or security is completely secure. We provide notice of security incidents when required by applicable law.

12. U.S. State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, whether an applicable law covers StoryRabbit, and subject to legal exceptions, you may have rights to:

To exercise a right, email privacy@storyrabbit.co or write to the address in Section 18. Describe the right you wish to exercise and provide information reasonably necessary to locate your account and verify the request. We may request additional information, use a verification service, or decline a request when permitted by law. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf, and we may require proof of authorization and verify your identity as permitted by law.

We generally respond within 45 days. We may extend the response period when permitted by law and will provide notice of an extension. To appeal a decision, email privacy@storyrabbit.co with the subject line "Privacy Appeal." We will respond within 45 days unless applicable law provides a different period, and we will provide information about contacting the appropriate state regulator when required.

To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information control in the App privacy settings, or email privacy@storyrabbit.co. We honor legally recognized opt-out preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control, as a valid opt-out request. Where you are signed in, we apply the opt-out to your account so that it carries across your devices. An opt-out preference signal takes precedence over an advertising choice you previously made in the App.

13. Additional Information for California Residents

This section supplements the rest of the Policy for California residents. It applies only when the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, applies to StoryRabbit and the relevant information.

During the 12 months preceding the effective date of this Policy, we collected the categories below to the extent relevant to the Services and features offered during that period. We disclosed those categories for business purposes to the recipient categories shown. We did not sell the categories for monetary consideration. We disclosed certain categories to advertising, analytics, and measurement partners in a manner that may constitute a sale, or a sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, under the CCPA. The table shows which.

California residents may have the rights described in Section 12, including rights to know, access, delete, correct, receive information about disclosures, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, limit use and disclosure of processing of sensitive personal information, and the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising a privacy right. We do not use or disclose precise geolocation to infer characteristics about you or for purposes that trigger a separate right to limit under the CCPA.

California's "Shine the Light" law allows certain residents to request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes. Requests may be sent to privacy@storyrabbit.co.

14. Children and Young People

The Services are not directed to or intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of minors or use it for targeted advertising. If you believe that a person under 18 has provided personal information to us, contact us using Section 18 so we can review and take appropriate action.

15. Do Not Track and Third-Party Tracking

Some browsers and devices offer a Do Not Track setting. There is no universally accepted standard for how an online service should respond to a Do Not Track signal, and the signal has not achieved general adoption. As a result, the Services do not respond to Do Not Track signals. We do process legally recognized opt-out preference signals as described in Section 12.

We do not permit third parties to collect personal information about your activities over time and across different websites or online services when you use the Services.

16. Third-Party Services

The Services may link to or integrate with third-party services, including Apple, Google, app stores, authentication services, payment services, and weather or mapping services. Those third parties process information under their own privacy notices. Review their notices and settings before using their services.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Services, our data practices, or applicable law. We will post the updated version with a revised effective or last-updated date and provide additional notice or request consent when required by applicable law.
